Hi,

My name is Lyly Luong and I am a fourth-year International Business student at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

The International Project Week in April 2009 is a good opportunity to work with and learn from students of different cultural backgrounds. Since I am planning to write my final thesis about intercultural competence this year, I am very delighted to be part of this project. In the past, I have gained some hands-on experiences in the area of cross-cultural teamwork in several countries: an exchange program in high school to Washington D.C. five years ago, an international students conference in Warsaw and a seminar in Zurich in 2007. In addition, I made the most significant experiences during my studies in Guangzhou and an internship I served in Hong Kong, from where I returned a few months ago.

I look forward to applying the skills I have developed abroad and to learning even more about working on a cross-cultural level by participating in the International Project Week. Moreover, I am glad to join the “Project Management” team since I am eager to learn about real-life cases, the methods and concepts that are actually used, how to best manage problems that occur and, furthermore, the fact that students get the chance to work on a real project by themselves. In this way I hope to acquire some practical knowledge for own future projects.
